Earlier this year the Hunter Education Resources Organization (HERO) and the Washington Hunter Education Instructors' Association spoke to Chief Bruce Bjork about the possibility of distributing surplus agency laptop computers to hunter education instructors. There was much support for the proposal, but the final decision depended upon authority granted to the agency via General Administration (GA).
The word from GA is finally in: GA has denied our request to surplus laptops to the instructor associations. Apparently there is some sort of existing agreement that requires all surplused computers to go to the Computers for Kids program.
Agency staff will continue to look for other ways to help promote the use of computer technology in the classroom.
